Finding Convenient Root Cause
Consider the problem at hand. Whatever challenges you are facing at this point has a root cause. But, unfortunately, our biases and assumptions will lead the approach to finding that root cause. We will use all our 'strengths' of creative thinking and convincing abilities bestowed upon us by our intelligence.
Several studies indicate that while others more easily mislead unintelligent people, intelligent people are more easily misled by themselves. We are experts in convincing ourselves to believe what our belief is.
Once we have reached the desired root cause, we either push it on others or find credible negotiators to do that job. The corrective/preventive actions coming from this entire exercise will give less, if not zero, improvements in the long run.
What can solve such a complex problem where our intelligence is our blind spot? Strangely the answer is not at all complex. It's simple. To be curious and to be humble to do self-reflection. But, yes, it is not that simple because we will do everything to avoid doing that.
